From two different vineyards in Maldonado, on the east coast of Uruguay: Garzón and Cerro del Toro. Both in close proximite to the Atlantic Ocean, with stony calcareous soils.
100% hand harvested. 9 months in French oak 2.000 liters foudres.
Toasty, spicy and rich, with good weight and breadth underpinned by tangy, sea breeze acidity.
91 / 100 points Tim Atkin MW Uruguay report
Subtly oaked so that the varietal aroma of peaches and apricot is still discernible, if not at the forefront, along with a cedary character. Terrific combination of energising high acidity and creamy texture, the oak rounding out the wine but not giving it an oaky flavour. Broad in the mouth but fresh and tightly wound on the finish, with a chewy finish that suggests this would be food-friendly even though it is quite aromatic on the mid palate and could be drunk on its own. Lime-flavoured aftertaste. Julia Harding MW 16.5 / 20 points
